About Us

Trail Science is a group of enlightened beings who have been hand building trail in Chapel Hill and Carrboro for over two years. Driven by a love of their hometown riding, they’ve hand constructed more that 18,000 feet of trail built by hand with an attention to detail you only find at golf courses. By replanting moss, ferns, and other forest magic, laboring over drainage decisions, and try to disrupt the natural world as little as possible. The “Scientists” are always aiming to make trail progressive and challenging while making it accessible to all riders and forest lovers.

Trail Science has dedicated over 75,000 human hours to building trail. Trail Science has been a donation based group since the start and we are ready to step into a world where we don’t have to worry about the funds needed to buy dirt or tools. Covid had made throwing fundraisers tough. No local trail builders should feel unsupported by the community that rides their trail.

Lets change that

We should keep them motivated and funded to continue their labor of love because it makes living in this area that much better. Our belief is that there are at least 300 people in the area who ride the trails they've built, and if each just gave $10 a month, they would be able to build and pursue more project long into the future.

If you can't support with dollars, visit the
events page where you can find info on when and where you can help them build beautiful trail.
